Starcraft 2 - Not 2008 2008-08-06 23:08:30
Okay, I know. I'm late. But I really don't read much gaming-related media anymore, so it's just now that I googled for "starcraft 2 release date" to find that it is pretty much sure that it will be at least march of 2009 when Sc2 is released. Which is fine for me, as I'm already busy enough. Which I will probably be then, too, but whatever
So that means that the MCN-developement will probably take an even longer break.
Taking a break 2008-07-10 20:43:28
Well, you probably already realised that I wasn't really working much on MCN in the last weeks. And that will stay that way for at least another month. I'm writing my master's thesis right now, and I have some other side projects and I might write a book about excuses, so there won't be an update very soon.
I also think that the big goal of becoming a multi-game plattform with 1000 great features and stuff might be a bit too ambitious considering the limitations. So I might just settle with "BWMN for Starcraft2 with more colorful design and less being hacked"
Another redesign 2008-06-04 00:23:10
Most people did not really like the old one, so we made something different...The color scheme is pretty much reversed now, and it is very far from what I had initially in mind, but it looks quite cool imo.
I hope to get to work on actual features in the weeks to come
trac 2008-05-28 18:21:21
First of all, there will be another design update. It will be much darker again, I realised most people prefer that.
Then, we finally use a versioning tool to make coordination easier. We use SVN and a tool called trac, which is hosted on http://www.assembla.com/spaces/mapcraft.
What's pretty interesting with that is that one can report so-called "tickets", that's bugs or feature wishes with trac. It would be easier to keep trac(k) of all issues that are still to adress, than reading and re-reading the forum posts. Everyone who wants to be involved in this just tell me your e-mail-address and I'll give you access to the Trac. There is also a wiki in there and stuff.
Design update 2008-05-13 23:54:31

That picture shows my right hand with a broken ring finger. So I'm writing this stuff only with my left hand, as my right arm is in plaster.
We still managed to deliver some new design. Wanja wrote and designed with photoshop while I barked commands at him...I like this kind of work
Press Ctrl+F5 if it looks the same as before for you, to reload all files.
It's not perfect (yet^^), but I do like this pretty light design. I have no idea why the text boxes are so small, but we'll fix that too, one day

GMCS v2 2008-04-26 22:06:16
I followed a new approach for GMCS for MCN: Instead of many dots everywhere, I use much more javascript. That will cause people who don't have state-of-the-art browsers or don't have javascript activated not to be able to use it, but I believe the better handling is worth it. Click on the map picture of some map already in the DB, like Gladiators to test it.
You can add an icon by double-clicking on the map and you can use the mouse wheel to switch through the symbols to display.
I need to find a better way to handle identity, I can't really access the session variables from the popup window
New Features 2008-04-24 18:12:50
Wanja and myhumbleself hustled hard to deliver the new features I present right herrr:
Personal messages
a post counter, that should count all forum, news-comments and map-comments
"props" - You can honor if you like someone's maps, posts, butt etc by giving him props
This is the last update this week, unless there are some nuclear bugs to fix
Welcome to MCN version 0.1 2008-04-22 12:07:40
MCN is supposed to become a legitimate successor of broodwarmaps.net in the not-so-far future.
There is still a long way to go before the site is really usable, but I think it is a good idea to already start producing content, as you just see much better what's wrong and what's missing when software is in production
The map DB filled with some maps (not all) from BWMN to have someting to test with, while the forums and news start with a clean slate 8)
When we feel like MCN is good enough to make the switch, I will work on transfering all maps and comments from BWMN over here. That is not going to happen very soon, though.
Please use the forum for bug reports and feature wish-lists
