New Features 2008-04-24 18:12:50

Wanja and myhumbleself hustled hard to deliver the new features I present right herrr:

  • Personal messages
  • a post counter, that should count all forum, news-comments and map-comments
  • "props" - You can honor if you like someone's maps, posts, butt etc by giving him props

This is the last update this week, unless there are some nuclear bugs to fixsmiley for ;)

Panschk did all the work !

I can't give Wanja above me a prop, nor can I give panschk a prop. Also, when I posted the map thing thread in the forum, I saw that I could give myself a prop. I'm going to try and abuse it, h/o sec.

Apparently you can't give yourself props, nevermind smiley for :)
I'm going to abuse it elsewhere in the forum, brb!

Is it supposed to give 4 props with one click? Also, when I tried to abuse it by spamming clicking to give props all at once, it resulted in giving 0 props, and I tried this on multiple people. I don't know if that's a problem, but I found it!

this is how it is supposed to work:

    - You can only give props to someone once per session. So switch browsers to abuse itsmiley for ;)
    - The system should prevent you from giving yourself props
    - The number of points that are given depends on the props you have yourself. For example if I have 10 "props", I can give sqrt(10) = 3 (rounded of course) to anyone. So the opinion of someone with 100 props is 10 times as valuable as the one from a newbie who just registered.

The idea is to reward good maps/posts etc on a regular basis, not just once. Still if you can just click dozens of times on the same button to increase the counter, it gets pretty lame^^

So that's the general idea. there still may be some glitches though^^

On Blizzforums, there is "reputation", which basically is the same as you "props".
    Differences:
    You can give negative rep.
You can't rep one person twice in a row (you'll have to rep someone else inbetween)
You can't rep someone twice within a certain time
Rep is given for a post. In your user CP, you have a list of the most recent rep you got, with links to the posts the rep was given for and the short comment that you have to type in when you rep someone.

I don't know if it's sqrt(), but the more rep you have, the more rep you can give on BF as well.

Having a list of the posts that one was repped for helps preventing abuse.
